I love Paonia. I've been coming here since I was a little kid since it’s so close to Crested Butte. This adorable small farm town is most well known for wineries and orchards. Going to Paonia has always been one of my favorite summer activities; we take a day trip and go to a cute restaurant called Big B’s, and visit the Black Bridge Winery and Orchard to pick peaches and cherries.
My Experience: It's always a great day in Paonia. It's such an outdoor-oriented town with stunning views all around. We started the day by eating lunch at Big B's, which was delicious. (I recommend the gluten-free chicken tender. They are to die for.) Big B's is also known for their swings, which always lead to an entertaining trip due to the fact my family is a little crazy. After lunch, we headed over to pick peaches, cucumbers, raspberries, and squash at my favorite orchard, Black Bridge. Not only do they have the most delicious fruits and vegetables, but sell the best bread and homemade balsamic vinegar. Our last stop was for the adults at Azura Winery. Azura is always one of my favorite stops because its breathtaking view over the valley. They also have remote control motor-boats that you can race in a little pond, but sadly they weren’t usable when we visited. Overall Paonia is a great day trip and a good getaway from the larger crowds of Crested Butte and Aspen. 9/10
